Wape, Zimbabwe

The same owners of Sentinel also own another concession called Wape. It is located only about 3 hours away east of Sentinel. One can spend 5 or so days hunting at Sentinel then transfer to Wape for Buffalo. I recently did just that and had the best of both worlds. This concession is 38,000 acres of thick bushveld and riverine forest. This is great habitat for Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Nyala (Nyala in abundace), Bush Buck and Bush Pig.

Eland, Impala, Giraffe and other plains game are present here plus other plains game. This concession also has an abundance of game birds. There is a low electrified perimeter fence to separate the buffalo from neighboring cattle. Elephant , Giraffe , Leopard and others come and go as they please.

The main attraction here are the buffalo. The herd here numbers around 400 with an abundance of big mature bulls. I recently hunted here and shot a great Dagga Boy on day three. We saw other great bulls every day. The bulls here have plenty of thick cover to hide, evade and grow old. Due to the thick vegetation the hunting is tough but rewarding.

The Lodge at Wape is beautiful and a very comfortable renovated house with all the creature comforts. It has all the amenities of any other lodge to include private bathrooms, nice dining area, a bar and living room. The Lodge has four bedrooms, however you or your party will be alone. There is a beautiful yard out back that is frequented by many different species of birds. Bush buck can be heard barking here along the river bed below. An occasional elephant may visit the Lodge
I would highly recommend a buffalo hunt here with Nyala as an add on.
